Family

Life keeps changing doesn’t it? It seems almost like yesterday that we came to Costa Rica….it has been ten years now. After lots of changes for the ministry there are hugh changes in the family….physically as well. Jeremiah is over 6 feet tall and moved to California. He is working there. Sam is graduating from high school and is applying at universities. Sam is over 6 feet tall and big as well as Jeremiah. Corinne is now taller than her mother and almost as tall as me. Gabriel is getting so big he may pass everyone up. How did this happen? Laura is busy studying nursing and I continue to be amazede at all the changes. Everyone is doing great in school and we look forward to what God has in store for you as well as us as we walk together. Prayers and thanks for the family,

Kim

Family May/June 2011

Thank you from our entire family for all your living prayers and support. It has been almost 9 years since we came to this small community to share our lives with another part of the world. As a family we have found we are loved and respected because of our Lord. Thank you for your continued support of this ministry.

Laura has taken on the university. What? Yes, Laura is going to nursing school and it of course is in Spanish. She has been taking classes and hopes to be a nurse in a few years. She also has been leading the ladies Bible study every week. It has been a real joy for her.  Pray as she continues to serve this community in various ways.

Laura also was in a motor bike accident and should have had serious physical injuries. The scooter is damaged yet Laura was by God’s grace spared any lasting damage. A few scratches and some bruises but she seems to be ok now. Pray for her continued healing.

Jeremiah has been attending university classes in Indiana. He started this past year and has adjusted to the culture, no immediate family and the weather.  It has been hard for us as well as him and he is doing great. It was our desire to have him come back to Costa Rica in June. Will he made it. It is nice to be together as a family again. He is presently working and saving money. Pray for his stay here and travel back to the states as he continues school.

Sam is also working hard with his academics. He has done great in school and continues to grow as large as Jeremiah. His goal is to go back to the states and go to school there when he is 18 years old. Two years away. He did go back to Indiana and look at school and is making arrangements to do that. We need to get all the grants we can because of the costs. Ouch….help Lord. He also has started interpreting from English to Spanish at our beach Fellowship as well as our Wednesday night Bible Study. Pray for those decisions to become clear.

Corinne has become a beautiful lady. Still daddy’s little girl, but no longer physically. She is as tall as Laura and at the rate of growth she going she will pass me up soon. She has done as great a job at school and has taken off as leader in several areas of her life. Her artistic abilities continue to blow me away. She can make anything turn into a work of art. Cards, announcements made by hand with just glue and stamps. She has several great friends and during Christmas she instructs kids in the neighborhood how to make cookies. She is involved in several youth groups and helps at the fellowship often with babies. Pray for her continued growth in our Lord.

Gabe is a normal 8 year old boy. He is always running and full of energy. He has lots of friends who also like to run. His school work is excellent and he is helpful and loving at home. His spiritual reasoning is off the charts. He too might be as big or bigger than any of his family members. He helps Dad with the chores and has a great time with just about everything he does. Pray for his continued growth with the Lord.

I continue to organize and run much of the planning and financial end of things at “Casa de Amor”. This is a drug addiction center started 4 plus years ago. God has used this to change many lives and after all this time of feeding the homeless and helping people who want changed lives, we are seeing wasted lives that are now fruitful. Praise Jehovah. God has continued to use me in the church in various ways. We still meet on the beach in Manuel Antonio. The people we serve are the people Jesus hung with when He was on this earth. It is half English and half Spanish. It is a good mix and we look forward to the changes in lives as we continue to follow God’s lead. Home keeps me busy as well with all the responsibilities there. Pray for wisdom, discernment and direction.

We do truly love and thank you for partnering with us in ministry. Your love these many years is wonderful.

Blessings and love,

Kim for the family

Casa de Amor

Changes that change us

“Casa de Amor” continues to change the lives of those that few people care about. There have been over a hundred men through the center in 4 plus years and we have sent several women to centers in Costa Rica as well. It is exciting to see lives changed and growing because of the opportunity offered by God to those with addictions. It is my plan to continue the effort of ministering to those that want to leave that ugly lifestyle and begin a new life with Christ.

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you know of it?”

Isaiah 43:19

Change is good right? It is good to hand the responsibilities to others that God has brought. I have been sensing God moving me to make some fresh changes so I can concentrate on the ministry I believe God wants me to do. Let the experts handle the center. With reservation but with Godly assurance I have stepped aside as president of the Association and handed the legal reigns to another. As acting President that is responsible for everything from finances to toilet paper I will concentrate on other parts of ministry as Jared will do the other hands on stuff including toilet paper.

The saw mill is up and bringing in some income for the center. This is a tool to give training to the men at the center that need this kind of work and at the same time make some income for the center. We hope to sell some products locally as well as internationally. Right now people are bringing logs to the mill and paying for the cut and then leaving with the logs. Since we do not have the transportation this is great for us.

It is Christmas and the men are lonely for their families here. Pray for the men.
